Professor V.C.Vivekanandan holds a PhD degree in Intellectual Property Law and a postgraduate in Corporate Law and Securities and also has a Master's and M.Phil. Degree in Public Administration. He researches and teaches Intellectual Property Laws, Internet Law & Governance, WTO studies and Business Law for undergraduate and Post Graduate Students.
He holds the IP Chair of the Ministry of Human Resources Development at NALSAR.
He coordinates the NALSAR Proximate Education division, which offers diploma and master's programmes. He is currently the Director of the Legal Information Institute of India and also the Director of the Institute of Global Internet Governance & Advocacy (The GIGA)
He also holds an adjunct visiting professorship with the Business School of the State University of New York (SUNY), US and is the Nomination Committee member of the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names & Numbers (ICANN). He served as Professor of Law and Dean of the RGSOIPL Law School at IIT Kharagpur during 2009-10 with lien from NALSAR. He also served briefly as Professor of Law and Head of Distance Education with National Law School of India University in 2009. He was also a research fellow with Maastricht University Law School on ICSSR-NWO fellowship in 2010.
He is an invited speaker in several national and international conferences and has several national and International Publications to his credit.
Currently he the Executive Council Board Member of the Indian Banks Technology Consortium of the Reserve Bank of India and also serves as an advisory member on IPR at IIT Bhubaneswar, member of bioethics committee of Venture East capital fund, Member of the Ethics Committee of the Administrative Staff College, Hyderabad and a visiting faculty to several National Institutes of repute.
